Welcome to the Content Styler#

The Content Styler is a script that will reformat Blackboard pages in the users web browser. It will reformat the content of a page, fix/remove a few Blackboard oddities, and where specified, wrap items in stylised and/or interactive containers.

It is an opt-in system, requiring a unique Blackboard Item to be added on each page to activate the restyling function

This documentation is for version 2 of the content styler. This version has received major improvements to speed, browser compatability and accessibility. It has also had a major overhaul to the special components and modifiers to simplify their usage, no longer requiring editing of HTML code.

The downside to these improvements has been a loss of backward compatibility with older sites using the previous styler. The previous styler scripts will continue to function but will not receive future updates and may eventually break as Blackboard upgrade their system.

Warning

The styling functionality is only available when viewed using a modern web browser. It may fail in ancient browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer) and will not function in the Blackboard App. With this in mind, content should be written and structured to take into account that it may be viewed on a device that is unable to perform the restyling.

Danger

This system is still in constant development, and as such, design, features and functionality may change unexpectedly, but not drastically.
